Eric Michael Garcetti is an American Diplomat and Politician who was recently appointed as US ambassador to India upon the nomination of US president Joe Biden.
Education and Early Life
Eric was born on 4th February 1971, in Los Angeles to Sukey (Née Roth) and Gil Garcetti ( former Attorney of Los Angeles County District). Garcetti completed his Bachelor of Art from Columbia University in 1992 and Master of International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University in 1993.
Career
Garcetti was Mayor of Los Angeles from 2013 to 2022. He was a member of the Democratic party and was elected in 2013 and was re-elected in 2017. Before he became mayor he had been a member of the Los Angeles City council and was its president from 2006 to 2012. He was the first Jewish Mayor of the city and its second Mexican American Mayor. He was the youngest Mayor in over 100 years.
