The fourth and final season of the real crime docuseries Indian Predator, made by VICE Studios India and presently available on Netflix, features Beast of Bangalore, according to writer-director Ashwin Rai Shetty. "Umesh Reddy was the first serial killer to enter my consciousness," Ashwin added.
The Beast of Bangalore, which has similarities to several other films like Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Conversations with a Killer: John Wayne Gacy, and BTK: Confession of a Serial Killer, is the story of a police officer named Umesh Reddy who terrorized the IT metropolis from 1996 until 2002. Reddy, a former police officer, was involved in various illegal acts with women, particularly in his native Karnataka. He deliberately played into the hands of widowed or single ladies by collecting their clothing and jewelry as souvenirs.

Born in Chitradurga, which is outside of Bangalore, Reddy's criminal activities date back to 1996 when he was posted in Kashmir as a CRPF officer and attempted to rape a commandant's daughter. Following that, he fled to Chitradurga district and joined the District Armed Reserve (DAR) Police. Interestingly, the DAR wasn't aware of his record with the CRPF, so the mayhem began.
18 women in total were victims of Reddy's brutality. Only nine incidents resulted in his conviction, the most notable being the 1998 case in which he raped and killed a 37-year-old widow in Peenya. Everyone was puzzled as to how he managed to avoid the legal system's grasp for such a prolonged period of time. The abuser was given a death sentence by the Karnataka High Court in 2009, but after he petitioned for compassion, the Supreme Court modified it to a 30-year jail term in 2022. Reddy is now sulking in the Belagavi prison.
