Hardik Himanshu Pandey is an all-rounder who bowls right-arm medium-fast and bats right-handed and is currently vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in limited overs. He also leads Gujarat Titans in Indian Premier League, which is an all-new franchise inducted in 2022.
Early Life
He was born in Surat, Gujarat to his father Himanshu Pandya, and Mother Nalini Pandya. His father Himanshu Pandey was a businessman who ran a small car finance business. Recently, he married actress and model Natasha Stankovic and has a child, Agastya Pandya. His brother Kunal Pandya is also a cricketer and both have played international cricket. He went to MK high school until grade 9th and lateral dropped out to pursue Cricket as a career.
Pandya was enrolled in Kiran More's cricket academy in Vadodara. According to his brother Kunal, Hardik Pandya was a leg spinner till the age of 18 and was later insisted by coach Sanath Kumar in Baroda to opt for pace bowling.
Domestic Career
Hardik Pandya has been a part of the Baroda cricket team since 2013 and played a crucial role for them in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in season 2013-14. He has played 29 matches in first-class cricket and has scored 1,351 runs with an average of 30.02 in batting and has taken 48 wickets with an average of 30.95.
IPL career
His IPL journey began with Mumbai Indians in 2015 and in 2021 he was released by the franchise. His role in MI was of a finisher who bats at 6 or 7 and bowls occasionally. Then was brought by Gujarat Titans and was announced the captain of the side. The team also managed to win the title in their first appearance in the League under his Captaincy. In his new franchise, he has promoted himself in the batting order at the number 3 position, and also he has promoted himself to lead bowler who bowls his full quota of overs in a few instances he has also opened the Bowling for the team.
International Career
Hardik has played all the formats for the Indian cricket team but, currently, he is not part of the test team. He is playing T20Is and day cricket as vice-captain and has a decent record. Images T20 debut against Australia in 2016 at the age of 22. He has a record of picking up four wickets and scoring 30 + runs in a T20 in the same match.
Pandya made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2016 against New Zealand at Dharamsala. He received the man of the match award in his debut match and became the fourth player to do so after Sandeep Patil, Mohit Sharma, and KL Rahul. He played a crucial inning in the champions trophy in 2017 against Pakistan which was a losing cause but will be remembered for a long time because of his fighting spirit, he scored 76 runs in 43 balls. Their career-best performance of Pandya was in 2022 against England at Old Trafford, he made 72 runs and also took 4 wickets in the same match and became only the second player after Yuvraj Singh to do so since 2011.
Was considered for tests due to his attacking game and the availability of a lot of players, but in 2017 he was given a chance he made his test debut on 26 July in Galle against Sri Lanka and scored his maiden test century in the third test of the same series. His Maiden century was a record, he became the first Indian batsman to score a century before lunch. Pandya set a record for scoring the most runs in an over in Test Cricket for India which was broken by Jasprit Bumrah.
