Determine the AC capacity based on the size of the room.

The size of the room should always determine the AC capacity. One Ton of AC is adequate for a space that is only 100–120 square feet in size. Choose a larger capacity air conditioner like a 1.5 Ton or 2 Ton for larger rooms.

The Capacity of the AC should be based on the flooring, how many hours of sunshine, and other considerations

The floor and the amount of sunshine entering the room also influence the choice of AC capacity. Make sure to boost the AC capacity by at least 0.5 Ton if you stay on the top five stories for efficient cooling.

Split vs. window: Select the type of air conditioner based on the size of your room and your needs.

Both ACs are almost equally effective. Pricing and feature differences make up the majority of the difference. Window air conditioners are inexpensive and have fewer functions overall. On the other hand, Split ACs are pricey and come with a ton of functions like rapid cooling and sleep mode. Please be aware that Split ACs can be installed in any room. However, a window that is the right size and fits the AC's specifications is required for window air conditioners.

Select the one with the higher preferred BEE rating.

There are many pricing ranges for air conditioners, and those with five stars are frequently more expensive than other models. This is because they are economical in the long term and have high energy efficiency. So if you have that type of budget, be sure to use 5-star air conditioners. Otherwise, pick a product with at least a 3-star rating. 

Always install inverter-operable air conditioners

In general, purchasing an inverter air conditioner is a better choice because they contribute to decreased power consumption and improved efficiency.

Only purchase extra air filters if they are required.

Few air conditioners have extra air filters, such as anti-bacterial, odor-removal, and other filters. Be aware that the makers of AC units may charge more for these filters.

Smart versus standard air conditioners

Wi-Fi-equipped air conditioners include several extra features, including support for voice commands, scheduling, automatic temperature management, and more. However, Wi-Fi air conditioners are rather costly, and a standard air conditioner may be made smart using a cheap smart plug (which costs between Rs. 800 and Rs. 1000).

Considering the noise level while choosing an AC

Consider purchasing a somewhat quiet air conditioner or one that has a silent mode or breeze mode if you have trouble sleeping or are planning to get an AC for your children's room. Also, take note that Window ACs are often noisier than Split ACs.

Choose the ACs and their capacity dependent on the number of people.

Never forget that a busy room generates more heat and needs a larger air conditioning unit. 

A copper coil is more dependable, although it is more expensive.

Consider purchasing air conditioners with copper coils. When compared to ACs with aluminum coils, they are more effective and provide superior cooling. They are also more durable and simple to maintain.
